Better yet, the activities of this program not only guarantee that the quantities of the carbon sequestered by the growth of the planted saplings corresponds to the carbon emission of the participating company, but also that the re-foresting is sustainable in the long-run, helping families involved in reaching economic independence from the commercialization of the trees cut in the forest, which today is the main factor of commercialization of the wood in the region.

The program's objective is to transform the Itacaré/Serra Grande Environmental Protection Area into a model tourist destination that neutralizes and reduces the CO2, uniting environmental conservation with social-economic development of the traditional agricultural families.
